TEMPE, Arizona (Ticker) -- Ramon Ortiz had a dismal outing on the day he agreed to a new contract as the Milwaukee Brewers outlasted the Anaheim Angels, 13-8, in a Cactus League slugfest.

Ortiz, who last season won 13 games for the most victories by an Angels pitcher since 1997, allowed six runs and 14 hits in 5 1/3 innings on Friday. Prior to the game, the Angels announced that the native of Puerto Rico has agreed to a deal through at least the 2004 season.

The Brewers banged out 25 hits, including homers by Richie Sexson and Raul Casanova off Ortiz. Midre Cummings and Rafael Belliard each had four hits for the Brewers, who scored seven times over the final three innings.

Garret Anderson homered twice and drove in four runs for Anaheim, which totaled 15 hits overall. Troy Glaus and David Eckstein also went deep for the Angels.

Paul Rigdon was the winner, allowing four runs and six hits in 4 2/3 innings.
