PEORIA, Arizona (Ticker) -- Five relievers combined on 6 1/3 scoreless innings to lead the San Francisco Giants to a 7-2 Cactus League victory over the San Diego Padres. After starter Kurt Ainsworth surrendered two runs and five hits in 2 2/3 innings, the Giants' bullpen slammed the door. Chad Zerbe and Aaron Fultz each got five outs before Manny Aybar, Tim Worrell and Felix Rodriguez tossed a scoreless frame apiece to preserve the win for Ainsworth. San Francisco broke open a 3-2 game with four runs in the ninth inning. Edwards Guzman's pinch single plated two runs for San Francisco, which scored twice in the first and never trailed. John Snyder took the loss, giving up three runs -- two earned -- and three hits over four innings with a walk and four strikeouts. Mark Kotsay had two hits, including a double, and two RBI for San Diego, which committed three errors. |
