PEORIA, Arizona (Ticker) -- Kevin Jarvis pitched five strong innings and highly touted rookie Sean Burroughs had two hits and an RBI as the San Diego Padres posted a 4-1 Cactus League victory over the Seattle Mariners. Jarvis surrendered one run and three hits, striking out one without a walk. The righthander got 10 of his 15 outs via ground balls. Burroughs, expected to contend for Nationa League Rookie of the Year honors, had an RBI triple in the sixth inning to give San Diego a 4-1 lead. Mike Cameron went 2-for-4, including a run-scoring single in the first, for the Mariners. Seattle starter Jamie Moyer gave up four runs and eight hits in six innings. The lefthander walked one and struck out two. |
