PEORIA, Arizona (Ticker) -- Ray Lankford had three hits and two RBI and Wiki Gonzalez also drove in two runs as the San Diego Padres overcame a big game by Aaron Holbert en route to a 7-4 Cactus League victory over the Seattle Mariners. Mark Kotsay also had three hits and drove in a run for the Padres, who pounded out 14 hits off four pitchers. Brian Tollberg squared his spring record at 2-2 after allowing one run and seven hits in six innings, walking one and striking out three. Holbert was 5-for-5 with a stolen base, two RBI and two runs scored for Seattle, which rested most of its regulars. Paul Abbott got the start for the Mariners and gave up two runs and five hits in four innings. After Kazuhiro Sasaki pitched a scoreless fifth, Chris Mears and Josh Ellison both struggled in two-inning stints. |
