PHOENIX (Ticker) -- Corey Patterson hit a two-run homer and Kerry Wood pitched five effective innings as the Chicago Cubs rolled to a 7-1 Cactus League victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Patterson's sixth spring homer highlighted a six-run first inning. Sammy Sosa followed Patterson with his sixth homer. Wood surrendered one run and four hits, walking three and striking out two. Alex Gonzalez added three hits and Delino Deshields went 2-for-4 with a run scored for the Cubs. Arizona starter Brian Anderson was ripped for six runs and nine hits in three innings. Danny Bautista had a run-scoring single in the first for Arizona. |
