Sammy Sosa belted a pair of two-run homers as the Chicago Cubs banged out 19 hits en route to a 9-5 victory over the Oakland Athletics in Mesa, Arizona.

Henry Rodriguez, Tyler Houston and Mickey Morandini each had two hits for the Cubs, who opened a 7-2 lead after four innings.

Oakland starter Kenny Rogers suffered his first loss of the spring, surrendering six runs and 10 hits in 3 1/3 innings. Gil Heredia, Oakland's second pitcher, was tagged for three runs and six hits in 2 2/3 innings.

Damon Berryhill and Jason Giambi each had two hits and an RBI for the Athletics.

Jeremi Gonzalez picked up the win, allowing two runs and five hits in four innings. Terry Mulholland allowed only two hits in three scoreless innings as the Cubs snapped a two-game losing streak.
