Oakland A's 4, New York Mets

By surviving seven wild games against the upstart Mets,
Oakland won its second straight championship. Owner Charles
O. Finley stole the spotlight from his team when he tried
to fire second baseman Mike Andrews following a poor
performance in Game Two.
Andrews was reinstated by Commissioner Bowie Kuhn. After the
Series, manager Dick Williams fled Finley's
asylum.
