and strikes out 12 to beat the New York Yankees, 4-1. It's
Clemens's 200th career win.

The Milwaukee Brewers and Oakland A's play the longest
nine-inning 1-0 game in major league history: three hours,
20 minutes. "Who the hell keeps track of stuff like
that?" asks the Brewers' Jeromy
Burnitz.

Bip Roberts of the Kansas City Royals sweats out a
14-minute at-bat against Felipe Lira of Detroit. Breakdown
of the at-bat: foul ball, called strike, pitchout, 10
straight foul balls, pitchout, three more foul balls,
ground ball to second. Lira throws to first nine times.

Deion Sanders, who hasn't played baseball since 1995, goes
2-for-4 and steals a base to boost his major-league-leading
total to 26. Sanders is batting .321 for the Cincinnati
Reds.

 The Montreal Expos' Pedro Martinez pitches a complete game
five-hitter and strikes out 12. Martinez improves to 8-0
with a 1.17
ERA.

 Tony Womack of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Sammy Sosa of the
Cubs hit inside-the-park home runs in the same game. It's
the first time two inside-the-parkers have been hit in the
same game since June 18,
1976.
