Houston Astros 1997 record: 84-78 (first in
NL Central) By the Numbers Scouting Report | Players To Watch | Projected Roster 1997 Team Statistics (NL Rank)
They Come to Play Last year Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell became the first teammates to play in every one of their team's games in two consecutive seasons since Nick Etten and Snuffy Stirnweiss of the Yankees in 1944 and '45. (No NL pair had done it since the Phillies' Dick Bartell and Chuck Klein and the Pirates' Gus Suhr and Paul Waner in 1932-33.) Since Cal Ripken Jr. broke Lou Gehrig's consecutive-games record in September 1995, Biggio and Bagwell are the only two others to have played in all of their team's games. The two rank second and third among active players in consecutive games, Biggio with 381 and Bagwell with 352. Iron-Man Teammates in the Past 20 Years
