When Girardi was traded to the Yankees from the Colorado
Rockies two years ago, he brought catching skills and
post-season experience. For New York, this combination
turned out to be not only valuable but also timely. During
the 1996 World Series,
Girardi's talent and coolness under pressure culminated in a Game
6 triple that helped clinch the championship for the Yanks.
