In the past 17 years, no player has waged a more furious assault on baseball's record books than Barry Bonds. Not only is the San Francisco Giants slugger among the all-time leaders in several major offensive categories -- such as walks, slugging percentage and extra-base hits -- he has also earned nine gold gloves for his stellar play in the outfield. In 2001, the game's only four-time MVP winner made his biggest mark in baseball history, setting the all-time record for most home runs in a season with 73. SI.com explores Bonds' remarkable career with a timeline, a selection of SI Flashbacks, a photo essay and a look at each of his historic 73 home runs.
