The marriage between 30-year-old Barry and Sun ends in divorce. Things get ugly when Sun sues Bonds to have their prenuptial agreement invalidated, claiming it is deceptive, unequal and unfair, and that she was pressured to sign it before being able to seek any legal advice.

San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Judith Whitmer Kozloski rules that Sun signed the prenuptial agreement voluntarily, with full knowledge of the property involved, and that the 1987 pact shall stand.

With a stolen base against the Rockies, Bonds reaches the 30-30 plateau for the third time in his career. He is the first Giants player to accomplish the feat since his father did it in 1973.

Bonds connects for his 300th career home run against Florida pitcher John Burkett. The dinger puts Barry in exclusive company as he joins his father, godfather and Andre Dawson as the only players in history to hit 300 home runs and steal 300 bases. "It's a good feeling, but I've got another record of my own: 400-400," Barry says.

Bonds misses a game against Montreal due to a hamstring injury, breaking his franchise record of 357 consecutive games played. It was the second longest streak in the majors behind Cal Ripken Jr. The last game missed by the left fielder was on May 6, 1994.

With a stolen base against the Rockies, Bonds joins Jose Canseco as the only players in major league history to hit 40 homers and steal 40 bases in a season.

After being stuck on 999 RBIs for eight games, Bonds drives in three runs against the Braves and surpasses the 1,000 RBI milestone.

While Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire capture the country's attention by chasing Roger Maris' single-season home run record, Bonds quietly reaches a milestone when he goes deep off the Marlins' Kirt Ojala. The blast, Bonds' 400th career dinger, makes him the only player in major league history to hit 400 home runs and steal 400 bases. "I don't think people realize what a great feat this is," Giants manager Dusty Baker says. "It's a combination of speed and power and durability. To run that much and hit that much, you've got to be in tremendous shape for a long time."
