A visit from the Miami Marlins might be what the Philadelphia Phillies need to get on track and string together some victories at home.
Coming off a strong offensive performance in the series opener, the Phillies try for a fifth straight home victory over the lowly Marlins on Friday night.
Domonic Brown homered for one of his three hits and Kyle Kendrick threw seven solid innings as Philadelphia (13-16) avoided a third straight defeat with a 7-2 win over Miami on Thursday. Ryan Howard added a solo shot for the Phillies, who snapped a three-game home skid to improve to 7-8 at Citizens Bank Park.
Philadelphia has won 10 of 13 overall and 17 of 22 at home against the Marlins (8-21).
Batting .394 (13 for 33) with three home runs and six RBIs during a nine-game home hitting streak, Howard is 7 for 14 while the Phillies have won three of four versus Miami this season.
Brown is batting .387 (12 for 31) with two homers and seven RBIs in his last eight games. He's hit .322 with two homers and nine RBIs in 16 overall against the Marlins.
"He's got the talent to be a good hitter," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said. "He can not only be a high average hitter, but a power hitter, too."
Scheduled to make his third career start, Philadelphia's Jonathan Pettibone (1-0, 4.35 ERA) looks to build on his first career victory. He allowed three runs and seven hits in five innings of a 9-4 road win over the New York Mets on Saturday.
The right-hander has managed to avoid the big inning and is expected to remain in the rotation for the injured John Lannan .
"He deserves to pitch some more," Manuel said. "He kept his composure. ... He got in a tight jam (in the fourth inning) but he wiggled his way out of it. That was good."
The Marlins counter with Ricky Nolasco (2-2, 3.82), who has allowed three runs in each of his last two outings. On Sunday, the right-hander gave up four hits in a season-high seven innings of a 6-4 win over the Chicago Cubs .
Nolasco, who gave up a run in six innings of a 3-1, 10-inning home loss to the Phillies on April 12, is 6-1 with a 2.98 ERA in seven starts at Citizens Bank Park.
Center fielder Justin Ruggiano homered Thursday for the Marlins, who have dropped two straight since a season-high three-game winning streak. Ruggiano is 6 for 16 (.375) in the last four games, and he's batting .316 (6 for 19) with two home runs and five RBIs in seven career contests at Citizens Bank Park.
Ex-Phillie Juan Pierre became the 14th major leaguer to steal 600 bases Thursday. In his 14th season, Pierre is the eighth player since 1920 to record at least 1,000 runs, 2,000 hits and 600 steals.
"We got the base for him," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. "He's a tremendous competitor and has had an amazing career."
Pierre is nine of 10 in stolen bases this season.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Jonathan Pettibone is giving the Philadelphia Phillies what they expected from their aces.
Pettibone pitched neatly into the seventh, Ryan Howard , Chase Utley and Domonic Brown hit solo homers and the Phillies beat the Miami Marlins 4-1 Friday night.
Pettibone (2-0) allowed one run and five hits in 6 1-3 innings in his third start filling in for injured lefty John Lannan . The 22-year-old righty lowered his ERA to 3.24 and he's only walked two batters in 16 2-3 innings.
"I want to give my team a chance to win," Pettibone said. "I stuck to the same things, build off each start, stay aggressive."
The Phillies are 9-3 when Pettibone, Lannan or Kyle Kendrick start and 5-13 when aces Cole Hamels , Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee take the mound.
"With those other guys, there's nothing to worry about," Pettibone said. "You see what they've done in their careers."
Donovan Solano hit a solo homer for the Marlins, who've lost three in a row after winning three straight.
Ricky Nolasco (2-3) gave up four runs and eight hits in six innings.
"I thought Ricky did a nice job, kept us in the game," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. "He executed his pitches and gave us a chance. We've got to do a better job of putting some runs up. It's tough for our pitching when we're just scoring one run a night. We've got to find a way to put some crooked numbers on the scoreboard."
The Phillies improved to 9-2 combined against the Marlins (8-22) and New York Mets (11-15), but they're 5-14 against other teams.
Pettibone left after allowing a one-out single in the seventh. Antonio Bastardo entered and walked two batters to load the bases. Bastardo then struck out pinch-hitter Austin Kearns swinging at a 3-2 pitch out of the strike zone and fanned pinch-hitter Matt Diaz looking.
Mike Adams worked the eighth and Jonathan Papelbon finished for his fifth save in five tries.
"He's pitched real good," manager Charlie Manuel said of Pettibone. "I like that he can take his fastball and hit both sides of the plate with it."
Howard led off the bottom of the second by lining one out to right for his fifth homer and second in two nights. Two outs later, Carlos Ruiz singled and stole second base. He scored on Ben Revere 's single to right for a 2-0 lead.
Utley connected in the third, putting a short, compact swing on a low fastball and driving it out to right for his sixth homer to make it 3-0.
One batter later, Howard ripped a ball into the right-field corner but was thrown out on a headfirst slide trying to stretch the double into a triple. The slow-footed slugger hasn't hit a triple since April 22, 2011.
"He's more patient, he's starting to get good balls to hit and he's staying on the ball better," Manuel said.
Solano hit his first homer of the season out to left-center leading off the fourth to cut it to 3-1.
Brown drove a shot off the right-field foul pole for a 4-1 lead in the bottom half. Brown has homered on consecutive nights and has five this season.
"I think I'm a little more aggressive now," Brown said. "I'm just trying to square balls up and keep it going."
Philadelphia's Delmon Young , playing just his second game in right field since 2007, made a leaping catch in front of the fence on Justin Ruggiano 's drive in the second.
Notes: Phillies C Humberto Quintero cleared waivers and reported to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. ... Utley's homer was his 205th, moving him into eighth place on the franchise's all-time list. ... Jimmy Rollins snapped an 0 for 11 slump with a first-inning single. He had been 0 for 12 against Miami this season before the hit. ... Howard has 12 RBIs in his last nine games after driving in just six in first 19 games. ... Nolasco fell to 8-6 vs. the Phillies, including 6-2 at Citizens Bank Park. .. Jose Fernandez (0-2, 4.50) faces Hamels (1-3, 4.78) on Saturday night.
