BASEBALL CITY, Florida (Ticker) -- Raul Ibanez and Kit Pellow each homered and had three hits as the Kansas City Royals scored in all but one inning en route to a 14-2 Grapefruit League rout of the Detroit Tigers. The Royals scored seven runs in the first four innings against Tigers starter Nate Cornejo (0-3). Ibanez hit his second homer of the spring to highlight a three-run fourth inning and reached base in all four of his at-bats. Pellow singled twice, belted a solo homer in the seventh inning and scored twice. Mike Sweeney was 2-for-4 with two RBI and has driven in 11 runs in his last 14 plate appearances. Blake Stein (1-0), who became the first Royals starter to pitch five innings this spring, allowed one run, five hits and a walk. He recorded three strikeouts. |
