JUPITER, Florida (Ticker) -- Joe DePastino hit a pinch two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning, leading a split squad of New York Mets to a 5-3 victory over the Montreal Expos in exhibition action. In his second at-bat of the spring, DePastino hit his first homer off loser Darwin Cubillan to snap a 3-3 tie. Pete Walker -- the last of New York's three relievers -- picked up the win with two scoreless innings. Mets starter Dicky Gonzalez pitched four hitless frames, giving up an unearned run and three walks. Jason Phillips had two hits and an RBI and Lou Collier added two hits and a run scored for the Mets. Jose Vidro, Andres Galarraga and Michael Barrett drove in Montreal's runs. Expos starter Tomo Ohka surrendered two runs and five hits in five innings. |
