DUNEDIN, Florida (Ticker) -- Terry Adams threw five strong innings but Chris Latham homered in the ninth inning as the Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies played to a 5-5 Grapefruit League tie. Adams eased concerns over his readiness for Opening Day by allowing a run and four hits in five innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out two. After Cliff Politte and Jose Santiago tossed a scoreless inning apiece, Pete Schourek was hammered for three runs and Ricky Bottalico surrendered the game-tying home run to Latham. Toronto starter Scott Eyre did not pitch well, allowing four runs, five hits and four walks in 4 1/3 innings. Latham, Shannon Stewart and Homer Bush had two hits apiece for Toronto. |
