KISSIMMEE, Florida (Ticker) -- Vinny Castilla homered and Jason Marquis scattered three hits over five innings as the Atlanta Braves blanked the Cleveland Indians, 6-0, in Grapefruit League action. Gary Sheffield went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Chipper Jones had a two-run single for Atlanta. Keith Lockhart and Rafael Furcal each added two hits. Castilla led off the eighth inning with his first spring homer off Cleveland reliever David Riske. The third baseman was signed as a free agent during the winter. Marquis struck out seven batters without a walk for his first win of the spring. Cleveland starter Danys Baez, expected to win a spot in the rotation, allowed five runs and nine hits in five innings to take the loss. He struck out five and walked none. |
