DUNEDIN, Florida (Ticker) -- Darrin Fletcher, Chris Woodward and Homer Bush each hit solo homers off Mike Thurman as the Toronto Blue Jays powered their way to a 7-5 victory over the New York Yankees in Grapefruit League play. Fletcher hit his second homer of the spring in the second inning, Woodward added his first in the third and Bush, a former Yankee, highlighted a three-run fifth with his first. Thurman continued his rough spring, giving up six runs and 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings. He has allowed 16 runs and 29 hits in 18 2/3 innings during the exhibition season. Nick Johnson hit two of three solo homers for New York, bringing his spring total to four. He went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI. Marcus Thames also homered for the Yankees. Brian Cooper allowed two of the three home runs but picked up the win. He surrendered two runs and five hits with a walk and three strikeouts over five innings. |
