WINTER HAVEN, Florida (Ticker) -- Karim Garcia hit a three-run homer and drove in four runs as the Cleveland Indians pounded Greg Maddux in a 9-2 Grapefruit League victory over the Atlanta Braves.
Maddux was tagged for nine runs -- seven earned -- and seven hits in four innings. The four-time Cy Young Award winner walked six and struck out three.
Garcia had three hits and homered off Maddux in a four-run third inning. Ellis Burks and Omar Vizquel each had two of the Indians' 10 hits.
Winner Ryan Drese pitched seven innings, allowing two runs and eight hits.
Matt Franco and Mark DeRosa each had two hits for the Braves.
Indians first baseman Jim Thome missed the game with flu-like symptoms.
