ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (Ticker) -- Javy Lopez belted a pair of two-run homers and Vinny Castilla had three hits and an RBI as the Atlanta Braves posted a 10-5 victory over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Enduring a rough spring, Lopez entered the contest batting just .154 (4-for-26) in 11 games. But he put an end to some of those struggles Saturday, homering in the first and third inning. Castilla had a two-run double in a five-run first inning. Ozzie Timmons also knocked in two runs for the Braves. Braves starter Tom Glavine surrendered five runs and seven hits over six innings. The lefthander walked one and struck out five. Tampa Bay starter Tanyon Sturtze, who entered the game with a scoreless streak of 14 innings, was ripped for eight runs and 10 hits in five innings. Aubrey Huff hit a solo homer for the Devil Rays, who suffered their ninth straight loss. |
