FORT MYERS, Florida (Ticker) -- Matt Kinney and three relievers combined on a two-hitter and Torii Hunter homered and drove in two runs as the Minnesota Twins posted a 3-0 Grapefruit League triumph over the Boston Red Sox. Kinney allowed one hit and two walks, striking out two. Bob Wells followed and surrendered a hit over two innings. Mike Jackson walked two over two hitless innings before Eddie Guardado struck out one in a perfect ninth. David Ortiz had two of Minnesota's six hits but Hunter delivered the big blow, homering off Willie Banks in the seventh. Boston starter Darren Oliver allowed two hits and a walk over five scoreless innings. Relievers Banks and Casey Fossum were ineffective in their stints. Johnny Damon had a double and Jason Varitek a single for Boston. |
