JUPITER, Florida (Ticker) -- Starters Andy Ashby and Garrett Stephenson both worked solid five-inning stints as the Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals played to a 1-1 Grapefruit League tie in 10 innings. Ashby, coming off an injury-plagued season, gave up an unearned run and four hits, striking out one without a walk. Stephenson, trying to win a spot in the rotation, gave up one run, six hits and two walks in five innings, fanning one. Four Dodgers relievers combined to allow two hits over the final five innings, including Guillermo Mota, who was acquired Saturday in a trade with Montreal. A quartet of Cardinals relievers gave up four hits over the final five frames, striking out six. Brian Jordan drove in the lone run for Los Angeles, which got two hits apiece from Dave Hansen and Chad Kreuter. Placido Polanco was 3-for-3 with an RBI for St. Louis. Both teams scored in the third inning. |
