PORT ST. LUCIE, Florida (Ticker) -- Jason Johnson pitched seven superb innings and belted a two-run homer to power the Baltimore Orioles past the New York Mets, 6-2, in Grapefruit League action. Johnson allowed one run and one hit while walking three and striking out one for his second spring win. His homer highlighted a four-run fourth inning that gave the Orioles a 5-1 advantage. Former Met Melvin Mora homered and Tony Batista stroked an RBI double for Baltimore, which outhit New York, 13-3. Shawn Estes suffered his third spring loss after giving up five runs and nine hits over five innings. In six appearances, the lefthander has yielded 10 runs and 19 hits in 16 2/3 innings for a 5.40 ERA. |
