HAINES CITY, Florida (Ticker) -- Ben Grieve's two-run homer highlighted a five-run third inning as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays snapped a nine-game losing streak with an 8-4 Grapefruit League win over the Kansas City Royals. Grieve's first homer of the spring came off starter Darrell May and gave the Devil Rays a 7-0 cushion. The blast followed a two-run double by Greg Vaughn, who had three hits. Randy Winn and Toby Hall each belted two homers and drove in two runs for Tampa Bay, which did all its scoring in the first five innings. Paul Wilson allowed two runs -- one earned -- and three hits over 5 1/3 innings with two walks and four strikeouts for the win. In 14 1/3 innings this spring, the righthander has posted a 0.63 ERA with 10 strikeouts. Dee Brown collected three hits and Carlos Febles two for Kansas City. |
