LAKELAND, Florida (Ticker) -- Roy Oswalt pitched six scoreless innings and Brian Hunter hit two homers as the Houston Astros pounded the Detroit Tigers, 9-1, in Grapefruit League play. Oswalt (3-0) continued his outstanding spring, allowing three hits and striking out 10 without a walk. Nelson Cruz, Octavio Dotel and Scott Linebrink finished up. Hunter hit solo homers off knuckleballer Steve Sparks (1-1) in the fifth and Matt Anderson in the seventh. He had three hits and scored three runs. Daryle Ward was 4-for-5 with three RBI and Lance Berkman hit his third spring homer for the Astros, who had 17 hits off five pitchers. Brad Ausmus had three hits and scored twice. Sparks allowed five runs and 10 hits in five innings, walking three and striking out three. Former Astro Mitch Meluskey drove in Detroit's lone run. |
