KISSIMMEE, Florida (Ticker) -- Jeff Bagwell went 2-for-3 with a home run and Adam Everett collected three hits as the Houston Astros defeated the Florida Marlins, 8-6, in Grapefruit League action. Daryle Ward added a solo homer and Orlando Merced drove in two runs for the Astros. Morgan Ensberg, who won the starting job at third base, tripled and scored two runs. Houston starter Shane Reynolds allowed four runs and eight hits in five innings. He struck out five and walked one. T.J. Mathews picked up his second win of the spring in relief. Eric Owens and Andy Fox had three hits apiece and Mike Lowell belted a two-run homer for the Marlins. Josh Beckett gave up three runs and seven hits in five innings for Florida. Vic Darensbourg surrendered two runs and two hits in 1 1/3 innings and took the loss. |
