CLEARWATER, Florida (Ticker) -- Andy Pettitte looked sharp in his return from an elbow problem, but the New York Yankees added another player to their growing injured list in a 4-3 Grapefruit League victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. Pettitte gave up one run and three hits in four innings with a walk and three strikeouts. Jay Tessmer got the win, despite allowing a run and two hits in two innings. Kevin Lovingier and Mariano Rivera followed with scoreless frames.

Nick Johnson and John Vander Wal hit solo homers for the Yankees, but third baseman Robin Ventura tripped while legging out a potential double play grounder and sprained his ankle. He limped off the field and the injury is not believed to be serious.

Phillies starter Terry Adams yielded two runs -- one earned -- and four hits in five innings with four walks and four strikeouts. He helped himself by driving in a run.

Reggie Taylor had two hits and scored a run for Philadelphia, who lost second baseman Tomas Perez with an apparent sprained left knee.
