JUPITER, Florida (Ticker) -- The Montreal Expos beat up on an old teammate. The Expos roughed up Guillermo Mota for six runs in a seven-run sixth inning that gave them an 8-4 Grapefruit League victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. On Saturday, the Expos traded Mota to the Dodgers for pitcher Matt Herges in a four-player deal. Mota (0-1) was expected to help stabilize the Dodgers' bullpen but had a disastrous outing, giving up four hits and a walk while hitting a batter and failing to record an out. Orlando Cabrera tripled home a run and later scored in the big inning, which erased a 2-1 deficit. Javier Vazquez, Montreal's Opening Day starter, gave up two hits in 4 1/3 scoreless innings. Tomo Ohka (2-1) gave up three runs and five hits in 3 2/3 innings but got the win. Paul Lo Duca and Hiram Bocachica homered for the Dodgers. Starter Terry Mulholland pitched three hitless innings. |
