VIERA, Florida (Ticker) -- Ramon Castro belted a three-run homer and Alex Gonzalez knocked in three runs, lifting the Florida Marlins to an 8-2 Grapefruit League victory over the Baltimore Orioles. Castro, who will see increased playing time early in the regular season with an injury to catcher Charles Johnson, smacked his third spring homer in the second inning to give Florida a 3-0 lead. Gonzalez also homered and Derrek Lee had three hits and scored three runs for Florida, which banged out 13 hits. Vladimir Nunez started for the Marlins, allowing one hit in two scoreless innings. Orioles starter Scott Erickson, trying to make it back after arm problems forced him to miss the entire 2001 season, lost for the first time in four spring decisions. The veteran righthander was ripped for six runs and 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings. David Segui hit a two-run homer for Baltimore. |
