PORT ST. LUCIE, Florida (Ticker) -- Eli Marrero and Eduardo Perez drove in two runs apiece and Matt Morris allowed two runs in six innings as the St. Louis Cardinals recorded a 7-2 victory over the New York Mets. Five Mets errors which led to four unearned runs for St. Louis. Lefthander Al Leiter allowed five runs -- one earned -- and six hits in three innings, walking none and striking out three. The lone earned run was a solo homer by Edgar Renteria in the first. Morris allowed two runs and eight hits in six innings, walking one and struck out seven. The two runs were courtesy of Edgardo Alfonzo's two-run homer in the third inning. |
