CLEARWATER, Florida (Ticker) -- Greg Vaughn belted a two-run homer and Randy Winn a solo shot as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays posted a 6-3 Grapefruit League victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. Vaughn hit his second spring homer in the third inning, giving Tampa Bay a 3-1 lead. Winn homered in the first off Philadelphia starter Robert Person. Devil Rays starter Wilson Alvarez, who missed all of last season after undergoing shoulder surgery, gave up three runs -- one earned -- and three hits in four innings. The veteran lefthander walked one and struck out two. Scott Rolen belted a two-run homer Philadelphia. Person, who is slated to start on Opening Day at Atlanta, allowed three runs and six hits in five innings. Jose Mesa took the loss after giving up three runs and three hits in two innings. |
