KISSIMMEE, Florida (Ticker) -- Wade Miller capped a dominant spring by allowing just one hit over five scoreless innings as the Houston Astros completed Grapefruit League play with a 6-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals. Miller, who walked four and struck out two, also helped his cause with a bases-clearing double in a four-run fourth. In five spring starts, the righthander posted a 4-1 record with a 0.50 ERA, allowing just one earned run over 18 innings. Jeff Bagwell had two hits for the Astros, including a solo homer in the eighth, his seventh of the spring. Chris George suffered the loss, yielding four runs and six hits over four innings. Four pitchers combined to hold the Royals to just four hits. Kansas City gots its only run on Michael Tucker's RBI single in the sixth. The Astros face the Boston Red Sox in an exhibition game in Houston on Saturday, while Royals conclude Grapefruit League play with a pair of games against the Detroit Tigers. |
