VIERA, Florida (Ticker) -- Brook Fordyce hit a two-out, two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to give the Baltimore Orioles a 9-8 Grapefruit League victory over the Florida Marlins. Fordyce's homer, the third of the game for Baltimore, came off loser Kennie Steenstra. Brian Roberts homered in the first and David Segui connected in the fifth off A.J. Burnett, who allowed three runs and six hits in six innings. Orioles starter Erik Bedard lasted four innings, allowing one run and four hits. The game featured 27 hits, including 13 by the Orioles. Fordyce and Brian Roberts each had three for Baltimore. Derrek Lee homered and drove in four runs and Mike Lowell had three hits for the Marlins. The Orioles broke camp after the game and will play the Atlanta Braves on Friday at Turner Field. |
