CLEARWATER, Florida (Ticker) -- Jose Cruz Jr. belted a pair of homers and knocked in three runs as the Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies played to a 3-3 tie in a Grapefruit League game called after nine innings. Cruz, who has battled a strained rib this spring, hit a two-run homer in the opening inning and a solo shot in the fourth. Both of Cruz's homers came off Nelson Figueroa, who replaced starter David Coggin. Coggin retired one batter but left after taking a line drive off his arm. Pat Burrell hit his sixth and seventh spring homers for Philadelphia. Blue Jays starter Luke Prokopec yielded two runs and four hits in six innings. The righthander walked three and struck out two. |
