ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (Ticker) -- Paul Wilson allowed three hits over seven scoreless innings and Jason Smith homered and drove in two runs as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays edged the Minnesota Twins, 4-2, in a Grapefruit League contest. Wilson, who had his second straight strong spring, walked two in his final tuneup. Victor Zambrano allowed two runs in the eighth before Doug Creek struck out two in a hitless ninth. Jason Tyner had three hits for Tampa Bay, which pounded out 11 against a trio of Minnesota pitchers. Twins starter Ryan Jerzembeck, who is ticketed for the minor leagues, allowed three runs in four innings. B.J. Garbe and Michael Ryan had two hits apiece for Minnesota, which managed just five. |
