BRADENTON, Florida (Ticker) -- Roy Halladay had his best effort of the spring, allowing a run and six hits in seven innings as the Toronto Blue Jays posted a 3-1 Grapefruit League triumph over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Halladay did not walk a batter and struck out two. Kelvim Escobar retired the final two batters to earn the save. Felipe Lopez and Tom Wilson had two hits apiece for Toronto, which banged out eight. Pittsburgh starter Kip Wells allowed two runs -- one earned -- and five hits in six innings. He walked one and struck out seven. Brian Giles homered for Pittsburgh. |
