ARLINGTON, Texas (Ticker) -- Ivan Rodriguez belted a three-run homer as the Texas Rangers made their home debut a winning one with a 4-2 exhibition victory over the New York Mets. Rodriguez's third spring homer in the bottom of the second off Shawn Estes gave the Rangers a 3-2 lead. Rafael Palmeiro added a solo homer in the fourth for the Rangers, who had just six hits. Dave Burba won for the third time in five spring starts as he allowed two runs and five hits in three innings. John Rocker worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth for the save. Estes fell to 1-4 this spring after giving up four runs and four hits in five innings. The offseason acquisition from San Francisco walked one and struck out two. Jeromy Burnitz hit a solo homer for the Mets. The game played at the Ballpark at Arlington attracted a crowd of 22,031. |
