CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Ken Griffey Jr. hurt his knee. The Minnesota Twins battered Jose Acevedo's pride. Griffey tweaked his right knee while chasing down one of Minnesota's seven doubles as the Cincinnati Reds dropped a 10-5 Grapefruit League decision to the Twins. Griffey missed some time earlier in the exhibition season due to patella tendinitis in his right knee, the same one he injured Friday. He will be re-evaluated Saturday. Things weren't much better for Acevedo, who gave up nine runs and 13 hits over four innings in a starting role. Torii Hunter doubled, homered and collected three RBI for the Twins, who scored five times in the fifth inning for a 9-3 lead. Doug Mientkiewicz and Brandon Masters also homered and A.J. Pierzynski and Luis Rivas had two RBI apiece. Joe Mays improved to 4-0 this spring after yielding three runs and four hits in five innings. Ruben Mateo homered for the Reds. |
