DAVENPORT, Florida (Ticker) -- Brandon Berger homered and drove in two runs and Chad Durbin tossed five effective innings as the Kansas City Royals posted a 6-5 Grapefruit League triumph over the Detroit Tigers. Joe Randa doubled twice and scored two runs for Kansas City, which played its final Grapefruit League game. The Royals will join the Cactus League next season. On the day he was awarded the No. 5 starter's spot, Durbin allowed three runs and five hits. Corey Bailey got the final two batters for his second save of the spring. Robert Fick homered and drove in two runs for Detroit. Knuckleballer Steve Sparks started for the Tigers and allowed five runs -- two earned -- in four innings. Newly acquired Jose Paniagua struck out two over two scorlesss innings in relief. |
