  Power Rankings Archive

College football has the BCS. College basketball has the RPI. And now baseball has the CNN/SI Power Rankings, a purely statistical formula to rank the 30 major league teams.

The ranking will be calculated on a weekly basis every Tuesday. All information is based on games through Sunday.

The defending champion New York Yankees own the top spot in the power rankings for the fourth straight week. But two other American League teams are making their moves. Texas jumped up four spots to fourth while Oakland moved into the top 10 for the first time.

  • HIGH RISERS: Rangers, Athletics and Devil Rays -- 4 spots
  • FREEFALLER: Brewers -- 5 spots

The ranking is Rotisserie-style, with teams leading the league in a category receiving 30 points, teams in last receiving one point. The maximum points a team can receive is 300.
