Ramiro Mendoza Mendoza's signing leaves the Yankees with only two players still in arbitration. Tom Pidgeon/Allsport

NEW YORK (AP) -- New York Yankees reliever Ramiro Mendoza agreed Friday to a $1.4 million, one-year contract, the midpoint of his arbitration request and the team's offer.

The 27-year-old right-hander, who made $370,000 last season, had asked for $1.7 million and had been offered $1.1 million. A hearing had been scheduled for Feb. 10.

Mendoza was 9-9 with three saves and a 4.29 ERA last season in six starts and 47 relief appearances, then repeatedly got the Yankees out of jams in the postseason.

Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera are the only Yankees remaining in arbitration. Jeter is negotiating a $118.5 million, seven-year contract, but Rivera's case might wind up going to a hearing next month.
