Jun. 13, 2002	DeShields has been activated from the disabled list by the Chicago Cubs. He was sidelined with a hip injury. With Bobby Hill's demotion to the minors, DeShields should split time at second base with Mark Bellhorn.
May. 29, 2002	DeShields has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Chicago Cubs with inflammation in his right hip joint. The second baseman, who is in a 4-for-47 slump, will be replaced on the roster by catcher Todd Hundley.
