Abbott has been released by the Seattle Mariners. The righthander missed most of last season with a tear in his pitching shoulder. He was 1-3 with an 11.96 ERA in seven appearances in 2002, including five starts.

May. 29, 2002 Abbott should be able to begin a rehab assignment early next week. The Mariners' righthander threw in a simulated game on Tuesday and is expected to throw again later this week. He is out with shoulder inflammation.
May. 8, 2002 Abbott has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Seattle Mariners with inflammation in his pitching shoulder. Abbott, who is 1-3 with an 11.96 ERA this season, will be replaced in the rotation by Joel Pineiro.
Aug. 29, 2001 Abbott, who missed a start for the Mariners because of a sore groin, is scheduled to take the mound for Seattle against the Baltimore Orioles this weekend.
