Bogar, a middle infielder who played parts of nine seasons in the majors, retired after a slow start at Triple-A Colorado Springs this spring. The 35-year-old Bogar hit .228 with 24 homers in 701 big league games.

Bogar, who was expected to be called up by the Dodgers this week, has returned to Triple-A Las Vegas because of a sprained right ankle. He is expected to rejoin the Dodgers once he is healthy.

Bogar's sprained right foot has landed him on the 15-day disabled list for the Dodgers. The move makes room on the roster to bring up Eric Gagne, who takes Darren Dreifort's spot in the starting rotation.
