Diamondbacks go for sweep of Padres

San Diego (8-10) at Arizona (10-8), 4:40 pm EDT

PHOENIX (Ticker) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks look to win their seventh consecutive home game Sunday when they wrap up a three-game series with the San Diego Padres .

The Diamondbacks were victorious in their final four home contests before embarking on a seven-game road trip, on which they won just twice. They have bounced back by claiming the first two games against their National League West Division rivals.

Arizona failed to have a runner reach second base against San Diego starter Jake Peavy on Saturday before Shawn Green and Alex Cintron hit consecutive doubles with two outs in the seventh inning to even the score at 1-1.

The duo added a pair of hits with two outs in the bottom of ninth, including Cintron's game-winner that lifted the Diamondbacks to a 2-1 victory.

Phil Nevin doubled and scored for the Padres, who have lost six straight road games.

Shawn Estes (1-1, 4.00 ERA) will attempt to complete the sweep for Arizona. Pitching in hitter-friendly Coors Field, Estes allowed three runs and six hits in five innings and was saddled with an 8-1 loss Tuesday to the Rockies.

Estes has enjoyed considerable success against San Diego, posting a 12-4 record with a 3.63 ERA in 22 lifetime starts. The 12 wins are his most against any opponent.

He will be opposed by Brian Lawrence (1-2, 5.60), who rebounded from a rocky start by holding the San Francisco Giants to two runs and six hits in eight innings Tuesday in a 5-2 triumph.

In his one outing away from Petco Park this season, Lawrence was hammered for seven runs and nine hits in 2 2/3 innings against the Chicago Cubs on April 13.
