Streaking Diamondbacks continue road trip at San Diego

Arizona (14-8) at San Diego (9-13), 10:05 pm EDT

SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks seek their seventh straight win Friday when they open a three-game series against the struggling San Diego Padres .

The Diamondbacks completed a three-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 6-3 victory on Wednesday. Luis Gonzalez 's two-run single highlighted a three-run seventh inning for Arizona, which began its streak last weekend with a three-game sweep of the Padres at Bank One Ballpark.

Brandon Webb (3-0, 2.63 ERA) will make his second start in less than a week against San Diego. The righthander yielded one run and five hits in eight innings last Saturday, but did not figure in the decision in a 2-1 victory. Webb struck out five and induced 18 groundouts.

Webb will once again be opposed by Padres ace Jake Peavy (2-0, 1.30), who gave up just one run and four hits while striking out eight in seven innings last Saturday.

San Diego has lost five of its last seven games, including a 10-3 setback Wednesday to San Francisco.

Phil Nevin of the Padres has a 12-game hitting streak.
