Padres, Diamondbacks meet Saturday after 15-inning affair

Arizona (10-13) at San Diego (14-9), 10:05 pm EDT

SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- Phil Nevin had the final say in Friday's marathon and helped the San Diego Padres end the Arizona Diamondbacks ' six-game winning streak. On Saturday, the Diamondbacks try to start another streak.

Nevin hit a solo home run in the fifth inning and brought in Xavier Nady with an RBI single in the 15th inning to give the Padres a 5-4 victory on Friday.

The Diamondbacks had swept the Padres in a three-game series last weekend in Arizona and followed with a three-game sweep of Los Angeles.

Arizona tied Friday's game in the ninth inning when Tony Clark delivered an RBI single off Padres closer Trevor Hoffman . But the San Diego bullpen limited Arizona to two hits in the final seven innings.

Brian Lawrence (1-3, 6.75 ERA) starts Saturday for the Padres after lasting just 2 1/3 innings and yielding six runs and seven hits at Arizona last Sunday.

Arizona counters with Shawn Estes (2-1, 3.96), who got the win last Sunday against the Padres, allowing three runs and three hits in seven innings, including a two-run homer by Jesse Garcia .
