Peavy looks to extend Padres' streak

San Diego (25-16) at Seattle (16-24), 10:05 pm EDT

SEATTLE (Ticker) -- Jake Peavy will attempt to extend the San Diego Padres ' winning streak to eight games when they open an interleague series with the Seattle Mariners on Friday.

That appears likely since Peavy (3-0, 2.57 ERA) has won both of his previous starts against Seattle, pitching 14 2/3 scoreless innings.

Fourth in the National League in strikeouts with 61 in 56 innings, Peavy is coming off a 2-1 win against Florida last Saturday. He yielded a run and five hits while striking out eight in seven innings.

The Padres lead the all-time series with Seattle, 22-16, including an 8-4 mark in the last three years.

San Diego completed its first three-game sweep of Atlanta in 14 years with an 8-4 victory on Wednesday. Khalil Greene recorded his third career multi-homer game with a pair of three-run shots.

Seattle starts Ryan Franklin (2-4, 4.20), who went 1-0 in his last two starts against Boston, allowing three runs in 11 1/3 innings.
