Padres try to continue hot hitting against Lowry, Giants

San Diego (29-19) at San Francisco (23-24), 4:05 pm EDT

SAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) -- The San Diego Padres look to continue their offensive surge Saturday when they continue a three-game series with the San Francisco Giants .

The Padres recorded 15 hits in the series opener Friday, getting three apiece from Brian Giles , Phil Nevin and Khalil Greene , and Brian Lawrence pitched San Diego's second consecutive complete game in a 9-3 victory over the Giants.

San Diego has scored 39 runs and pounded out 58 hits over its last four games, posting a 3-1 record in that stretch.

Rookie Tim Stauffer (1-1, 4.34 ERA) hopes to get similar support Saturday after the Padres failed to score Sunday in his last start. Stauffer allowed four runs and seven hits in 5 2/3 innings in a 5-0 setback to the Seattle Mariners .

San Diego's first-round pick in the 2003 draft, Stauffer had lasted at least six innings in his first two major league starts.

The Giants counter with 24-year-old lefthander Noah Lowry (2-5, 5.75), who snapped a personal five-game losing streak in his last outing, holding the Oakland Athletics to one run and seven hits in seven innings Sunday in a 3-1 victory.

Lowry had won his first seven career decisions before the five-game skid that spanned six starts.

Ray Durham had two hits, including a solo homer, Friday for the Giants, who have lost two straight following a four-game winning streak.
