Prior seeks first career win against Phillies

Chicago Cubs (54-53) at Philadelphia (56-52), 1:05 pm EDT

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Mark Prior has been dominant ever since entering the major leagues in 2002, but has yet to figure out a way to beat the Philadelphia Phillies .

Prior seeks his first win against the Phillies on Thursday when the Chicago Cubs play the rubber game of a three-game set at Citizens Bank Park.

Prior (7-3, 3.26 ERA) has faced Philadelphia five times in his career, but is just 0-1 with a 3.38 ERA. The Phillies are one of four NL teams (besides the Cubs) that Prior has not beaten.

The 24-year-old righthander has posted a 2-0 mark with a 2.89 ERA in his last four starts - all wins for the Cubs. He has allowed three runs or fewer in 14 of 16 starts this season, including Friday vs. Arizona when he yielded three runs in 7 1/3 innings, but did not factor in the decision of a 4-3 win.

The Phillies hand the ball to Brett Myers (9-5, 3.21), who seeks his fourth straight win. The righthander, who is 3-0 with a 3.29 ERA in his last four starts, is one win shy of his third consecutive season with double-digit victories.

Myers is 2-2 with a 2.45 ERA in his career against the Cubs, including a 4-2 win on July 24, 2002 in his major league debut. He took the loss against Chicago on May 8 despite allowing two runs in eight innings.

Philadelphia dropped the series opener, 2-1, before posting a 4-3 victory on Wednesday. Jimmy Rollins doubled to lead off the ninth and scored the winning run on a passed ball by Michael Barrett .
